I understand getting caught up in the moment, but let’s not get crazy. In an interview leading up to the Penn Relays, 100-meter champ Tyson Gay said he wants to run the 4x400 meter relay in Beijing.
Say what?
Can he break the top eight? The U.S. is deep, deep, deeper than Atlantis in the quarter. Just think Jeremy Wariner (43.45), Darold Williamson (44.27), Angelo Taylor (44.05) , LaShawn Merritt (43.96), Xavier Carter (44.53), Kerron Clement (44.48), Andrew Rock (44.35), Bershawn Jackson, to name just a few.
Ummm..Tyson split 45.2 at the Texas Relays a month ago. What he really meant to say is that he would love to make history by winning four gold medals. He currently has a shot at three gold medals (100, 200, 4x100 relay) and the mile relay is the only option to get another gold medal. Unfortunately it’s out the question.
